Job brief
 
The Auto Body Technician will be responsible for the repair and restoration of vehicles to its original condition.  


Responsibilities
 

• Thoroughly examine vehicle damages and prepare necessary reports
• Prepare or review repair cost estimates, and plan work to be performed
• Remove vehicle trim to gain access to vehicle body
• Properly fill depressions with body filler and insure a quality repair
• Bolt or weld replacement parts in position using power tools and welding equipment
• Straighten bent automobile frames
• Aim headlights
• Replace bolts on panels and align properly
• Make cosmetic repairs
• Use special equipment to restore damaged metal frames and body sections back to original specifications
•  Prime and paint repaired surfaces
•  Inspect repaired vehicles for dimensional accuracy and test drive them to ensure proper alignment and handling
•  Fit and weld replacement parts into place
•  Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical window-and-seat-operating equipment and trim in order to gain access to vehicle bodies and fenders
•  Adjust or align headlights, wheels, and brake systems
•  Replace damaged glass on vehicles
•  Prepare and update vehicle records, maintain vehicle records, annotates labor time, parts and/or equipment and other pertinent data on work orders
•  Keep inventory up to date
•  Assist the Mechanic with general servicing of vehicles
•  Any other task as maybe assigned and other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization

Requirements
 

• Diploma or above in Automotive Maintenance / Auto Body Repair
• Related certification
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role
• In depth knowledge of various vehicle types  
• Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for problem solving
• Excellent communication and customer service skills. 
• Working knowledge of auto body repairs
• Knowledge of electrical and electronic components of vehicles
• Thorough knowledge of relevant safety guidelines.
• Basic arithmetic skills
