The IRO will work directly with the Human Resource Manager of the company and will be responsible for coordinating Industrial Relations Programmes geared towards the promotion of good labour practices and harmonious relations between Management, Workers, Trade Unions and Associations. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, professional and capable of managing their work load and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Maintain sound employee relations
Coordinate attendance improvement programmes and initiatives
Conduct regular communication with workforce representatives
Provide guidance to supervision to ensure that discipline and counselling is handled fairly and in accordance with prevailing labour legislation
Coordinate disciplinary tribunals
Take minutes
Prepare reports on performance of disciplinary processes
Facilitate recruitment processes
Assist HR Manager in daily functions as required
Requirements
Diploma/Degree in Labour Relations
Sound knowledge of labour legislation including the basic conditions of the Minimum Wages Act, Supplemental Police Act and Industrial Relations Act
Experience in disciplinary proceedings including counselling sessions, disciplinary hearings, appeal hearings
Computer literacy in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) at Intermediate level
Demonstrable ability to communicate, present and influence key stakeholders at all levels of an organization, including management
Proven ability to multitask
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to handle stress
Attention to detail
Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation abilities
